TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Re-signed
The San Jose Earthquakes have re-signed goalkeeper Matt Bersano, the club announced Tuesday. Bersano was out of contract after the 2020 season.
Bersano, 28, has yet to appear in an MLS match for San Jose over four seasons with the club. He has made 57 appearances with USL Championship side Reno 1868.
He played youth soccer at Real Salt Lake Arizona academy then played collegiately at Oregon State (2011-14) and Penn State (2015).
Bersano is likely to slot in as the club's No. 3 goalkeeping option, behind JT Marcinkowski and Daniel Vega. Marcinkowski replaced Vega as the starter down the stretch in 2020.
