Veteran defender Shea Salinas underwent successful surgery on his left foot, the San Jose Earthquakes announced Friday.
The 32-year-old, who has spent nine season with the Quakes, is expected to be sidelined for six weeks following the surgery performed surgery by Dr. Nicholas Todd, DPM, and Dr. Shannon Rush, DPM, of Sutter Health, which lines up with the start of the 2019 season.
But Salinas, who had a pair of assists in 25 appearances — 20 starts — in 2018, will likely be out for the first part of preseason, so his presence in Matias Almeyda’s first gameday 18 when the Quakes meet the Montreal Impact on March 2 is uncertain.
