Three straight wins, a Cascadia Cup trouncing of Portland, Player of the Week honors for Clint Dempsey, a sharp jump up the MLS Power Rankings – it's already been a great week for the Seattle Sounders, and it got even better on Tuesday night.
The Rave Green announced that defender Roman Torres has been activated from the Disabled List and added to the club's active roster, making him eligible for MLS action for the first time since tearing the ACL in his left knee in a match vs. the San Jose Earthquakes on September 12.
The 30-year-old Panamanian international signed with Seattle from Colombian side Millonarios last August and appeared in just four matches for the club before suffering the ACL injury. The commanding center back resumed full training earlier this month and is expected to return to the Sounders' starting lineup as soon as his fitness allows.
Unbeaten in four matches under interim head coach Brian Schmetzer, the Rave Green face a busy week, starting with a visit to the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium on Wednesday (9 pm ET; MLS LIVE).
They then meet the Timbers on Sunday at Providence Park (5 pm ET; ESPN in US, MLS LIVE in Canada) in a rematch of last weekend's clash, a 3-1 Sounders win at CenturyLink Field.
