Transfer rumors keep swirling around Christian Pulisic. The latest ones have him in line to join a coach quite familiar with his services.
According to a Friday tweet from The Times writer Tony Barrett, English giants Liverpool have submitted an offer worth approximately $14.45 million (£11m) for Pulisic. The 17-year-old winger and US national team member is currently on the books of German outfit Borussia Dortmund, who Jurgen Klopp coached before joining Liverpool as their manager in 2015.
ESPNFC have reported that Dortmund are staving off the bid thus far, however. Klopp declined to speak on the matter in the wake of the Reds' 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. The current international transfer window closes on Wednesday night.
Veteran German journalist Raphael Honigstein spoke with Pulisic on Wednesday and later expressed doubts that he would be eager to leave Dortmund so quickly after his breakout season with the club. Honigstein also noted BVB's belief in the teenager, despite having made a bevy of new signings in the positions he usually plays.
Pulisic has been the subject of much transfer talk in recent weeks. On Thursday, German outlet BILD reported that Stoke City had submitted an even bigger bid for the talented youngster. Other clubs linked with a move for Pulisic include RB Leipzig and CSKA Moscow.
A native of Hershey, Pennsylvania, Pulisic made his professional debut with Borussia Dortmund's first team during the 2015/16 campaign. He appeared in both UEFA Europa League and German Bundesliga matches, and that helped him break through with the US national team this past spring.
On the international level, Pulisic has six caps and one goal. He was a member of the US side that finished fourth in this summer's Copa America Centenario.
