It seems an American defender movement may be getting underway at one Norwegian club.
Norwegian outlet Dagsavisen Stavanger reported on Wednesday that Walker Zimmerman was starting a trial with local club Viking FK. The 22-year-old played the last three seasons for FC Dallas, appearing in 37 regular season games. His option was declined by the Texas club following the 2015 season.
If Zimmerman's trial is successful, he would join compatriot and fellow MLS veteran AJ Soares, who joined Viking ahead of the 2015 season after several seasons with New England. Soares helped the club to a fifth-place finish in the Norwegian top flight, as they just missed out on a qualification slot for European competition. He was the only American on the squad last season.
