TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
FC Dallas’ busy offseason rolls on with word of another significant transaction for the Texas club, as a Brazilian journalist reported on Thursday that holding midfielder Carlos Gruezo could be headed to Vasco da Gama on a year-long loan.
Raphael Zarko of Globo Esporte took to Twitter to report that the Rio de Janeiro heavyweights are in talks with FCD over a move for the Ecuador international, a regular starter for Dallas over the past three years and a key contributor in the club’s Supporters’ Shield-U.S. Open Cup double-winning campaign in 2016.
Gruezo, 23, has made 89 regular-season appearances (84 starts) over his three seasons in MLS, chipping in two goals and seven assists from a deep midfield role since arriving from German side Stuttgart. With several changes to their technical staff, Dallas are in the midst of a marked overhaul of both their roster and leadership this offseason.
Vasco’s interest in Gruezo may dovetail with reports of an FCD move for Honduran international Bryan Acosta, though it would also mark two prominent departures from the base of Dallas’ midfield, with HomegrownVictor Ulloa having been traded to expansion sideFC Cincinnati earlier this winter.
