Official: Toronto FC re-sign captain Michael Bradley on TAM deal

TFC officially announced Bradley's re-signing on Tuesday morning, stating that the club's captain has signed a new contract via the use of Targeted Allocation Money.


“Michael Bradley has led this club in the biggest games we’ve played in during his time at Toronto FC and is our engine,” said TFC president Bill Manning in a statement. “Michael and his family have made Toronto their home and we are all very happy that they will continue to be part of our club for years to come.”

Toronto-based pundit Duane Rollins was the first to report on Wednesday that TFC have re-signed Bradley.

The news was subsequently confirmed by the Toronto Sun's Steve Buffery and Canadian Press' Neil Davidson, who along with Rollins reported that the deal will make Bradley as a TAM player, for two years plus an option year. If that is the case, Toronto will open up a Designated Player spot.

Bradley, 32, has spent the past six seasons with TFC after transferring there from Serie A club AS Roma. Bradley has been TFC's captain and has been a foundational player for the club, taking them from perpetual underachievers in MLS to one of the league's top clubs. In addition to winning the 2017 MLS Cup, Bradley and TFC have won three Canadian Championships, the 2017 Supporters' Shield, and reached the final of the 2016 and 2019 MLS Cups and 2018 Concacaf Champions League.


Toronto FC have teased a "major announcement" is forthcoming on Thursday.
