Peter Vermes has helped Sporting Kansas City achieve plenty of success in recent years, and the job he has done is apparently attracting suitors from across the pond.
According to the Kansas City Star, Vermes has been in contact with an international agent recently because there are teams over in Europe who are interested in bringing him over as a head coach. No specifics were provided as to which teams have an eye on the Sporting KC boss, but two English Premier League clubs and one European country's national team are reported to be in the mix.
Vermes, for his part, does not sound like he is ruling out anything.
“When anybody is interested in you, you would be lying if you said it wasn’t intriguing,” he told the Kansas City Star. “At this moment, my focus in on Sporting Kansas City.”
Vermes has helped Sporting KC become one of the top sides in MLS over the last five years, and guided the club to several championships, including the 2013 MLS Cup and 2015 US Open Cups.
His top assistant, Kerry Zavagnin, is also attracting attention. Per the report, Zavagnin has interviewed twice this month for the Chicago Fire's head coaching job.
