TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Sporting Kansas City are mulling a move for Canadian national team striker Lucas Cavallini, according to a recent report from TUDN.
Currently plying his trade at Liga MX club Puebla, who currently sit third from bottom in the Apertura standings, Cavallini is a physical, hard-working No. 9 who began his professional career in Uruguay and also had the option to represent that nation at international level.
He has bagged 11 goals – including one against the United States in last month’s 2-0 Concacaf Nations League win for Les Rouges – in 17 CanMNT caps dating back to 2012, and has been a reliable scorer for La Franja despite their general struggles in the Mexican top flight for the past several seasons.
TUDN’s Rodrigo Celoria reports that the club value the 26-year-old at around $7-8 million and would like to use the proceeds from a sale to either pay off debt or replenish their squad for next year. He adds that other Liga MX sides are interested in addition to SKC.
