TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report
Real Salt Lake appear set to bring back longtime veteran Nick Rimando and academy product Brooks Lennon for the 2018 season, according to a new report.
The Salt Lake Tribune's Maddie Lee reported on Tuesday that Rimando, a free agent, and Lennon, on loan from English giant Liverpool, are expected to return, according to general manager Craig Waibel.
“I am extremely confident that a positive outcome will be reached very soon with both Brooks and Nick,” Waibel is quoted as saying regarding the players in Lee's report.
Rimando, 38, owns many of the all-time records in MLS history, both for goalkeepers and all players, and just completed his 18th professional season (11th with RSL) in MLS, playing 28 MLS regular season games, winning 13 and posting eight shutouts in 2017.
Lennon, 20, just finished his first season in MLS with RSL. A Real Salt Lake-Arizona academy product, Lennon signed a professional deal with Liverpool, but was loaned to RSL to get playing time. He played 25 games in MLS regular season play, scoring three goals and four assists, while also playing for the US national team at the U-20 World Cup in 2017.
