TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Could Philadelphia Union defender Mark McKenzie be Celtic-bound? According to ESPN’s Taylor Twellman, there is major interest.
During the broadcast of the MLS is Back Tournament Group A showdown between the Union and NYCFC Thursday morning, Twellman said the Scottish giants are “all over” McKenzie with the team’s scouts keeping an eye on the 21-year-old center back.
McKenzie has worked up way up through the US youth national teams, wearing the captain’s armband at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland last year.
McKenzie signed a Homegrown deal with the Union ahead of the 2018 season, making 19 appearances in his first MLS season and has been a regular starter since.
In January, McKenzie signed a new contract through 2022, with club options through 2024.
