TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
According to Peruvian news site Libero, New York City FC center back Alexander Callens is seeking a move to Peru to continue his professional career.
The report specifically links him to Peruvian First Division club Alianza Lima, motivated to be closer to Peruvian national coach Ricardo Gareca. He did receive a call-up to the La Blanquirroja in October and played 90 minutes against the US men's national team. Callens signed a long-term contract with the Cityzens back in October.
That does run counter, however, to what The New York Post's Kyle Schnitzer reported later on Friday:
The 26-year-old Callens, who joined the Cityzens in January 2017, was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year in 2017, starting all 34 league matches, and started in all of his 31 appearances last season. He has 11 caps for the Peru senior team dating back to 2013.
