The Montreal Impact are moving on in the Concacaf Champions League, but not without a bit of a headache.
Captain Jukka Raitala will miss around 8-12 weeks with a leg fracture, suffered in the club's Leg 2 draw against Saprissa, according to reporting from Impact TV partner TVA Sports. He carried on for some minutes after he suffered the broken fibula before being substituted at halftime.
Raitala, 31, joined the Impact in 2018 and has been appeared in 54 of 68 regular season MLS matches for Montreal during that time. When Ignacio Piatti departed the club this offseason, Raitala was named captain.
The Finnish international helped his country qualify for the 2020 European Championships this summer.
Montreal kick off their MLS campaign on Saturday against the New England Revolution (3 pm ET | TVAS in Canada, MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in US).
