TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report
Laurent Ciman might not just be returning to MLS, but doing so with one of his former teams' fiercest rival, Toronto FC.
After being generally linked with an MLS return by L'Equipe, TVA's Nicolas Martineau confirmed that Ciman is in the process of terminating his contract with Dijon FCO in France's Ligue 1, where he transferred in August after playing nearly 2/3 of the 2018 season with LAFC. If everything goes as planned, reports Martineau, he will then head to Toronto.
Prior to playing in Los Angeles, the Belgian international made his mark on MLS with three solid seasons with the Montreal Impact, winning accolades — including being named MLS Defender of the Year and making the MLS Best XI, as well as making the first of two successive MLS All-Star teams — in his 2015 debut season.
Because Ciman transferred out of MLS for a fee of at least $500,000, he would be subject to the Allocation Order should he return to the league. TFC recently moved up in the Allocation Order, jumping up to second in a trade with the San Jose last week. FC Cincinnati, who sit first in the Allocation Order, have been linked throughout the last few months with a move for US international Fabian Johnson, who would also be subject to the Allocation process should he move to MLS.
