The LA Galaxy will be without three of their biggest stars for Wednesday’s crucial encounter at Real Salt Lake (9:30 pm ET; MLS LIVE).
The Los Angeles Times’ Kevin Baxter reported on Wednesday that striker Robbie Keane (undisclosed), midfielder Steven Gerrard (hamstring injury) and defender Jelle Van Damme (MCL sprain) did not make the trip to Utah for the match, the winner of which will claim sole possession of second-place in the Western Conference.
LA forward Gyasi Zardes will also miss the match as he continues to recover from a broken fifth metatarsal in his right foot that is scheduled to keep him out for the remainder of the regular season.
Baxter reported that Keane, who played his final international match for Ireland last week but did not make the bench for LA’s 2-1 win against Columbus on Saturday, could return in time for Sunday’s match against Orlando City (7 pm ET; FS1 in the US, MLS LIVE in Canada).
Van Damme and Gerrard were both given recovery timelines of two-to-three weeks on Aug. 27. It’s unclear whether either player will be available for Sunday’s contest.
