LAFC sign Eduard Atuesta to three-year deal

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

Update, Dec. 14: LAFC confirmed the new three-year deal for Atuesta on their website this week.

Original report, Nov. 16:

After a stellar first season in Major League Soccer, Eduard Atuesta is set for an extended stay in Los Angeles, according to a report.

The 21-year-old, who was on a one-year loan from Independiente Medellin in his native Colombia with an option to buy, has signed a three-year deal with LAFC, per John Rojas of AS.com.

“The club made use of the purchase option and we signed for the next three seasons,” Atuesta told Rojas.

Atuesta, who came in at No. 16 on the MLSsoccer.com 22 Under 22 list this year, made 25 appearances for the expansion side, starting 16 matches. He had one goal and two assists, but it was his work against the ball that was so valuable in his first season playing outside Colombia, where he captained the U-20 national team at the South American Championship in 2017.

Atuesta missed a handful of games to injury and LAFC were 8-3-5 with him in the starting XI.
