TRANSFER TRACKER: Report
After a season in which Sporting Kansas City scored more goals than ever before in their history, head coach Peter Vermes is set to lose a key cog from their attacking machine.
According to Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star, striker Khiry Shelton is "unlikely" to be back with SKC in 2019 and is heading for Europe.
Shelton, 25, made 20 appearances for SKC this season and contributed two goals and five assists. Prior to SKC, he was unable to hold down regular playing time with New York City FC, scoring six goals in 54 appearances (23 starts) over three seasons.
“He’s had a dream of always playing in Europe,” Vermes told the KC Star. “From everything I understand, and I’ll let him speak more on it, he has an opportunity, and that’s what he’s going to pursue in the short term.”
