TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
It's been a good day for Ike Opara.
Hours after winning his second MLS Defender of the Year award, The Athletic's Jeff Rueter reported that Opara and Minnesota United have agreed to a new long-term contract. Rueter added that Opara will be a TAM player.
Opara, 30, has had a stellar first campaign with Minnesota United. He appeared in 30 regular season matches, leading the club to the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time in the Loons' MLS history as well as their first U.S. Open Cup final.
With Opara in Minnesota, the Loons conceded 28 fewer goals this year than the season prior. They host the LA Galaxy in Round One of the playoffs on Sunday (8:30 pm ET | ESPN, ESPN Deportes; TVAS, TSN4).
