Report: Houston Dynamo may trade captain Brad Davis to Sporting Kansas City

Longtime Houston Dynamo midfielder and current team captain Brad Davis could be on the move this offseason.

The Houston Chronicle reported this week that Davis, also a former US national team mainstay who was part of the 2014 World Cup, is likely to be traded to Sporting Kansas City, citing multiple MLS officials. But while Houston president Chris Canetti said in the article that there are no untouchables on the team roster, he said parting ways with Davis, who just completed his 10th season with the Dynamo and 14th in the league, is “putting the cart before the horse.”

Sources confirmed to MLSsoccer.com that the two teams had discussions regarding a trade for Davis in the summer but a deal was not done.

When asked on Wednesday how he evaluated Davis’ season and saw him fitting in going forward, Dynamo head coach Owen Coyle replied, “Brad’s a good player and we know that. I started him every game. Brad has different strengths and attributes than a lightning quick winger. We know what he can bring to the team.”
