The Colorado Rapids have emerged as front-runners to land Ola Kamara from Columbus Crew SC, according to Minnesota-based reporter Jeff Rueter.
Rueter added that the LA Galaxy, who were reported to be interested in the striker earlier this offseason, remain in talks for the 28-year-old Norwegian.
MLSsoccer.com reported last week that both Kamara and fellow Crew SC attacker Justin Meram asked to leave Columbus earlier this offseason. Head coach Gregg Berhalter said in a statement to MLSsoccer.com that “any offer for Justin or Ola would have to significantly benefit the club considering they are two of the most productive offensive players in the league and have multiple years remaining on their contracts with Crew SC.”
Kamara has been one of the most productive strikers in MLS since he joined the league in 2016, recording 34 goals and five assists in 59 regular season games. Kamara made $482,500 last year and is looking for a more lucrative contract, according to MLSsoccer.com’s sources and previous reports.
