After signing Sergiño Dest and getting Konrad de la Fuente involved with the first team, FC Barcelona is considering adding more American players to their roster. According to ESPN, the Catalan club is monitoring a trio of MLS youngsters: the Philadelphia Union's Brenden Aaronson, Sporting Kansas City's Gianluca Busio, and the San Jose Earthquakes' Cade Cowell.
The report says all three are being closely monitored by Barcelona, though it is unclear if Aaronson's transfer to Red Bull Salzburg that was announced Friday has impacted Barcelona's interest in any way. The interest is further proof of Barcelona's increased scouting presence in North America after the club signed Canadian Ballou Tabla from the Montreal Impact in 2018. Tabla returned to the Impact this year after making 30 appearances for Barcelona B.
Barcelona also has two Americans on its U-15 team in goalkeeper Diego Kochen and midfielder Adrian Simon Gill.
