TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
With speculation mounting that Houston Dynamo star Alberth Elis could be moving to Europe this year, the player spoke publicly about the near future.
Glenn Davis shared video on Sunday of Elis being asked about a move at the airport, and Elis reiterated his interest in moving to Europe at some point in his career while also saying he was "ready to play this season" if a deal doesn't happen immediately.
Elis, 22, has spent the last two seasons with the Dynamo, scoring 21 goals and 14 assists in 56 MLS regular season appearances. He also has one goal in four MLS Cup Playoffs appearances to date, and helped Houston win the 2018 U.S. Open Cup, their first major trophy in over a decade.
With the Honduran being one of the most promising young stars out of Central America, reports have linked him to moves spanning from Scotland to Turkey in the current transfer window. The video didn't discuss a specific destination, so it is unclear where he could be headed.
As the wide forward promised, he did report to the start of Dynamo preseason on Monday.
The Dynamo open their 2019 slate on Feb. 19 in Concacaf Champions League play against Guatemalan team Guastatoya. They begin their MLS regular season schedule on Mar. 2 at home against Real Salt Lake.
