Cristian Casseres, Jr. is off to Chile to compete in the South American U-20 Championship.
The New York Red Bulls midfielder has been included in Venezuela's 23-player roster for the competition, which was announced on Saturday.
The Vinotinto are slated to meet Colombia on Jan. 17 for their first match of the tournament.
Casseres, 18, made his MLS debut last season, starting in central midfield during a win against the Houston Dynamo in August. He's been a fixture for Venezuela's U-17 side in the recent past, and was called into the U-20 camp for the team that finished runners-up at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Given Tyler Adams recent departure to RB Leipzig, Casseres looks poised for an impactful 2019 with the Red Bulls.
