Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando won Save of the Week for Week 7 of the MLS season, beating David Bingham in the final vote to prevent the San Jose Earthquakes ‘keeper from taking home the honor for the second-straight week.
RSL defender Justen Glad committed a turnover deep in the Salt Lake third early in the second-half of RSL’s 1-0 win against Vancouver on Saturday, allowing Whitecaps’ Nicolas Mezquida to race in alone on goal. Rimando rushed off his line to meet the Uruguayan midfielder, using a quick reaction to tip Mezquida’s effort over the bar.
In addition to beating out Bingham, Rimando topped Sporting Kansas City’s Tim Melia and Philadelphia Union’s Andre Blake en route to the award.
