Real Salt Lake star Joao Plata took home AT&T Goal of the Week honors for Week 27 thanks to his rip into the top corner against the LA Galaxy last Wednesday night.
The diminutive striker received a layoff from Yura Movsisyan in the box and smashed the ball into the upper 90 past LA 'keeper Brian Rowe. The goal cut LA's lead from two to one, and RSL eventually tied the game at 3-3.
Plata defeated Sporting Kansas City's Roger Espinoza in the final, collecting 57 percent of the vote. He had previously defeated Toronto FC's Jozy Altidore and New England's Juan Agudelo.
