TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Real Salt Lake completed a deal on Friday just before the 2018 Roster Freeze deadline, announcing the addition of veteran defender Nedum Onuoha on a free transfer.
Onuoha, 31, has spent his entire club career to date in England, where he was raised, playing for Manchester City (2004-12), Sunderland (2010-11) and Queens Park Rangers (2012-18) in the Premier League and English Championship. Born in Nigeria, Onuoha was an England youth international while coming through Man City's youth ranks.
“Nedum will add tremendous experience and leadership to our group,” RSL general manager Craig Waibel said. “The expectation is that he will come over, regain full fitness and contribute as we enter the stretch run and into next year."
MLSsoccer.com National Writer Sam Stejskal reported the signing on Thursday, after Onuoha had confirmed the move previously in England. Stejskal's report indicates the defender's deal with RSL is through the 2019 season, with a club option for 2020.
