TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Extension
Real Salt Lake and defender Justen Glad have agreed to a contract extension, the club announced Monday. Glad was entering the final year of his previous contract.
Glad, 23, signed a Homegrown contract with the club in 2014 and has gone on to make 126 MLS appearances. He started 14 of RSL's 22 games in 2020.
“Justen is a proven high-level starter in this league and at 23 years old has significant room for growth as well,” GM Elliot Fall said in a club statement. “We are thrilled to have him on board long-term and see him continue to cement himself as a leader in our locker room.”
The news will be welcomed by RSL fans, after regular starter in central defense Nedum Onuoha announced his retirement at the end of the 2020 season.
After making the playoffs and winning in Round One two seasons in a row, Real Salt Lake finished below the playoff line in 2020.
