There aren’t any MLS teams left, but the CONCACAF Champions League marched on Tuesday night, with Tigres and Queretaro battling to a scoreless draw in the first leg of their semifinal series at the Estadio Corregidor.
The game’s best chance came in the 35th minute, when Queretaro’s Angel Sepulveda was denied on the break by Tigres goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman. Former US international and Chivas USA defender Jonathan Bornstein went the full 90 for Queretaro.
The result leaves the series very much in the balance heading into the decisive second leg at Tigres on April 5. Tigres must win to advance, while Queretaro would move to the final with a win or a non-scoreless draw. If regulation of the second leg ends in a scoreless draw, the match would be decided in extra time and, if necessary, penalties.
The other CCL semfinal kicks off between Santos Laguna and Club América on Wednesday night with that series' first leg, at Estadio Corona in Torreon (10 pm ET, FS2).
