In life, we sometimes forget to use our head.
That wasn't the case for San Jose's Jason Hernandez, who used his noggin to deny Real Salt Lake a sure goal last Saturday. Providing extra support to goalkeeper Jon Busch, the veteran defender kept the game at 0-0 in the 71st minute with a flick of the head, which ultimately was the difference between in a 2-1 win for the Quakes.

It should come as no surprise that Hernandez took home 50 percent of the vote, but it is surprising that a defender took home the Save of the Week honors for Week 16. He is the first defender to earn it this season. While there have certainly been some great saves by goalkeepers this season, that’s their job. Hernandez, on the other hand, came to the rescue when his 'keeper needed him most.
