TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Waived
The Portland Timbers waived defender Chance Myers on Wednesday night, citing a need to make space on their roster and salary budget for “projected additions.”
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, Myers, 30, is a 10-year MLS veteran who spent his entire professional career with Sporting Kansas City before joining the Timbers via free agency a year ago.
The fullback made just one appearance for Portland, vs. Real Salt Lakeon July 19, before leaving the match early with an injury that would eventually sideline him for the rest of the season.
