Portland Timbers forward Jaroslaw Niezgoda underwent successful surgery at Oregon Outpatient Surgery Center on Monday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, the club has announced. Dr. Richard Edelson performed the surgery.
Niezgoda will conduct his rehabilitation with the Timbers sports medicine staff at Providence Park and at the Providence Sports Care Center. He is expected to return in approximately six to eight months.
The 25-year-old forward suffered the injury in a 1-0 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Nov. 1. The Polish striker had seven goals and one assist in 17 games this season, including two separate braces in recent weeks. Niezgoda has provided a solid return after signing in January via a transfer from Polish Ekstraklasa side Legia Warsaw.
He's the second Timbers Designated Player to receive season-ending ACL surgery after Sebastian Blanco's procedure in September.
