Walker Zimmerman grew up in Georgia, and it definitely shows through in his music taste. There are certainly country bands in the rotation for him, as well as slow jams... and he's not afraid to admit that he has Disney songs on his favorite playlists, too. Zimmerman is passionate about other media, as well. When he's not saving balls off the line for LAFC or the USMNT, he's busy hosting interviews with teammates, fans, and other guests on his podcast "The Locker Room." His eclectic, fun and light taste in music supports his happy go lucky personality and chilled out vibe, and keeps his attitude on the pitch positive.
What type of music do you like to listen to right now?
It varies between Disney, country music (for example Thomas Rhett’s new album) and then a little bit of R&B.
Who are your favorite artists right now?
Thomas Rhett, Tim McGraw. I am listening to a lot of Ed Sheeran’s stuff, although I haven’t listened to his new album yet, but I like this vibe a lot.
What does music do that gets your mind right for a match?
I don’t have a specific type of music I go to right before a match. I like to mix it up, so probably all of the above.
In the LAFC locker room who’s in charge of the AUX cord?
Our equipment guys have a set playlist for when we arrive at the stadium. They do a really great job getting us pumped up.
Who should definitely NOT be in charge of the AUX cord?
I’d have to say Lee Nguyen, only because I’ve never seen him listen to music in my life.
What’s the best concert or festival you’ve ever been to?
I saw Garth Brooks in Dallas a couple years ago and it was easily the best concert I’ve ever been to. He puts on such a great show.
What’s your earliest music related memory?
Listening to Kenny Chesney’s song called "Summertime." It was always my pump up song when I got out of school. It’s the perfect way to kick off the summer.
