The latest Peru national team squad will once again have a heavy MLS flavor.
For friendlies against Colombia and Chile in November, Seattle Sounders striker Raul Ruidiaz, Portland Timbers attacker Andy Polo, San Jose Earthquakes defender Marcos Lopez, New York City FC defender Alexander Callens and Orlando City defender Carlos Ascues have all been included on the roster.
Ruidiaz leads the bunch by way of international experience with 42 appearances for his country while Polo (29 caps) and Ascues (21) are no stranger to Peruvian action. Callens, 13 caps, and Lopez, two appearances, are at the other end of their international careers.
The friendlies will come a week after Ruidiaz and the Seattle Sounders play in MLS Cup on November 10 (3 pm ET | ABC, Univision, TUDN, TSN, TVAS) as the striker led his side to the final with big-time playoff performances. He had 11 goals in 22 regular season appearances this year.
Polo was a regular for the Portland Timbers in 2019, making 19 appearances, while Callens anchored NYCFC's backline to topping the Eastern Conference in the regular season.
Lopez, 19, enjoyed a busy first season in MLS with 19 appearances for Matias Almeyda's Quakes and Ascues became a regular starter for Orlando City over the middle of the season.
