Panama forward Blas PĂ©rez confirmed his impending exit from FC Dallas on Wednesday by penning an open letter, with versions in both Spanish and English, announcing his departure.
"My will was always to remain at this club and renew my contract, but the board and technical staff have other plans," PĂ©rez wrote.
One of the emotional leaders for FC Dallas during the last four seasons, PĂ©rez netted 37 goals in 103 total MLS games, including his playoff tally against Portland on Sunday; that strike cut Dallas' aggregate deficit to a single goal.

A long-time Panamanian international, Pérez was limited to 14 regular-season starts this year – his lowest total with FC Dallas – due to injury and international duty.
"To FC Dallas fans, I thank you for all your love," Pérez wrote. "I have all of you in my heart, and from now on, I'm just one more fan of this team, but I'm satisfied that as a player, I gave all of me in every game and every training, and I was able to return all that love and support with goals and great moments of joy for all of you. … I expect that soccer will help us find each other again some day. Until then, I wish the best to you and your families."
