An Orlando City midseason addition will remain with the team for the 2017 season.
The team announced defender Jose Aja has signed a new four-year contract. Aja joined Orlando City on a six-month loan from Racing Club de Montevideo in July 2016, making 10 appearances for the Lions, including nine starts.
“We are excited to keep Jose in Orlando. He proved to be a great player and strong asset for our team in a short period of time,” Orlando City general manager Niki Budalic said in a team statement. “We look forward to his continued contributions in 2017.”
The 23-year-old began his career in his native Uruguay, first for Nacional and then Racing, prior to joining Orlando City.
