Orlando City SC announced Sunday that theyāll be without Dom Dwyer for the remainder of the MLS is Back Tournament, as the striker left the bubble to obtain an MRI on his left knee.
Due to the timeline required for quarantine and recovery, Dwyer has returned home and wonāt factor until after the Tournament. Dwyer hasnāt featured in Orlandoās last two matches, including the clubās 1-0 win Saturday night over the Montreal Impact to book a quarterfinal spot. He last featured in the clubās 3-1 win over NYCFC in Group A back on July 14.
The development means that Orlando will be without the player many felt would need to carry the goal-scoring load up top for the club this season, although the Lions have still managed to emerge as one of the surprise contenders of the Tournament in his absence.
Dwyer had yet to find the scoresheet in two matches this season, picking up one assist in 124 MLS minutes. For his MLS career, the 29-year-old has 81 goals and 18 assists in almost exactly 15,000 minutes.
