Orlando City SC defender Joao Moutinho underwent successful hip surgery Tuesday, the club announced.
The surgery was performed in California with supervision from Dr. Craig Mintzer, the team’s Chief Medical Officer and an orthopedic surgeon at Orlando Health, the official medical partner of Orlando City SC.
The 22-year-old left back appeared in 12 matches for the Lions across all competitions in 2020, scoring the late equalizer against LAFC in the MLS is Back Tournament Quarterfinals, while also registering two assists throughout the season.
Moutinho arrived in Orlando via a trade from LAFC on Dec. 11, 2018. He was the No. 1 overall selection in the 2018 SuperDraft.
