FC Dallas' made their first trade of the offseason, with Orlando City the beneficiaries as they acquired forward Tesho Akindele from the Texas club in exchange for exchange for $100,000 of Targeted Allocation Money in 2019 and $50,000 of General Allocation Money in 2020.
Akindele, has been a valuable contributor for Dallas ever since they selected him sixth overall in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, following a prolific career at the Division II Colorado School of Mines. He would go on to be named the 2014 MLS Rookie of the Year and helped Dallas capture the 2016 Supporters' Shield and U.S. Open Cup titles.
After getting at least 1,500 minutes in each of his first four seasons, Akindele saw his role diminished in 2018, playing 577 minutes and scoring two goals. In total, Akindele scored 24 goals and eight assists over 133 appearances (67 starts) with FC Dallas. The Calgary, Alberta native has also represented Canada 14 times at the senior international level, having scored two goals for Les Rogues.
