TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Loan
Orlando City SC have acquired fullback Danilo Acosta on loan for the 2019 season from Real Salt Lake in exchange for $75,000 in General Allocation Money, the club announced Friday. The deal comes with an option to buy for an undisclosed fee.
Acosta, 21, was signed as a Homegrown player by RSL and made his debut for the club in 2017. He made 29 appearances for the club over the last two seasons, though was used sparingly as 2018 wore on. He made just one substitute appearance after his final start on July 14.
“Danilo is a young, talented player who brings national team experience to our roster,” said Orlando City SC EVP of soccer operations Luiz Muzzi in a media release. “He has the qualities and character we are looking for in a left back and are excited to bring him on board and start working with him for the preseason.”
Fellow Homegrowns Aaron Herrera and Brooks Lennon appear set to head into 2019 as RSL's first-choice fullbacks again, while the club also acquired fullback Donny Toia in the Re-Entry Draft.
Orlando City traded Mohamed El-Munir to LAFC earlier this offseason, who had played both left back and left wing for the club in 2018.
