The hits keep on coming for the New York Red Bulls, who lost three players to injury in Sunday's 2-2 draw with LA Galaxy. One of them, Homegrown fullback Connor Lade has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will miss the remainder of the season following surgery.
Additionally, defender Damien Perrinellewill miss 4-6 weeks after suffering ankle and knee injuries.
The team announced the news Tuesday morning, preceded by a heartfelt social media post from Lade, who wrote: "It kills me knowing I won't be able to step onto the field with my brothers for the rest of this year."
Lade, who has already made as many appearances (18) this year as he did all of last season, has a goal and an assist in 1,380 minutes mostly lining up at left back. With Kemar Lawrence returning to the fold after an injury layoff of his own, Sal Zizzo stands as the likely replacement on the right side.
A few fellow MLSers chipped in with well wishes, as did a slew of RBNY fans.
