Soccer, like life, can be a game of inches.
Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen used every inch available to him when he denied Toronto FC's Danny Koevermans from getting on the score sheet in SKC's 2-0 win over the Reds last Saturday. Nielsen's kick save – which would have made Stanley Cup-winning goalie Jonathan Quick proud – took home Save of the Week honors for Weeks 13-15.
The Danish netminder also managed to inch past Vancouver's Joe Cannon by a mere 11 votes in one of the closest contests to date. This is the second Save of the Week nod for Nielsen in the 2012 campaign, and with the win, he makes it a clean sweep for Sporting KC in the weekly award column after teammate Júlio César won Goal of the Week.
