After temporarily leaving the club to get tendinitis treatment, Nico Lodeiro is back.
The Seattle Sounders' talisman has joined his teammates for their final preseason preparations in Mexico before the club take the field for their 2020 opener, a Concacaf Champions League clash against Olimpia next week. Lodeiro had been notably absent from Sounders camp at Starfire Sports Complex in the week ahead of the team's departure for Mexico, with head coach Brian Schmetzer later revealing the star midfielder had gone home to Uruguay to get treatment for his tendinitis issues.
Sounders fans can breathe a sigh of relief with the knowledge that the dynamic playmaker is back in action, even arriving in time to do a little sightseeing in Mexico with his teammates.
"We always try and pull out all the stops as far as getting people prepared for the season,” Schmetzer told reporters last week. “Nico wants to make sure he’s 100 percent for the start of the season.”
No word on if he was able to scale all those steps from the picture.
Lodeiro, 30, has been one of MLS's best players since arriving during the 2016 season, with 26 goals and 48 assists in 101 appearances for Seattle. He's led the team to MLS Cup three times, winning twice.
