Prior to Real Salt Lake's game in Washington on Saturday night, D.C. United honored RSL's record-holding goalkeeper.
Nick Rimando, who announced he will retire following this season, spent part of five seasons with D.C. from 2002 to 2006 before moving to Salt Lake, where he has played since. He was the starter on D.C.'s last MLS Cup winning side in 2004, playing alongside current D.C. coach Ben Olsen.
Five years later, Rimando led Salt Lake to their only MLS Cup in 2009, where he earned Man of the Match honors for his heroics in the penalty shootout.
Both Olsen and D.C. GM Dave Kasper honored Rimando at midfield with a framed "Rimando" jersey of the era of his time with the club.
