He helped end his club's painful 11-game winless streak, and now he's won them their first AT&T MLS Goal of the Week award.
Thomas McNamara was known to many as "that Chivas USA guy who rocked an epic mullet" last season. But he's put himself on the map for a different reason this year, returning from an ACL torn last April and hitting a gorgeous long-range blast in New York City FC's slump-busting 2-1 win over Philadelphia last weekend.
The swerving, dipping strike, the second of his MLS career, has won the Week 14 GOTW prize with 32.68 percent of the vote, beating out Orlando's Cyle Larin and Toronto FC star Sebastian Giovinco in a close race.
Fine finishes from Fanendo Adi and Kennedy Igboananike (of the Portland Timbers and the Chicago Fire, respectively) brought up the rear.
1. Thomas McNamara (NYC) - 32.68%
2. Cyle Larin (ORL) - 24.43%
3. Sebastian Giovinco (TOR) - 22.53%
4. Fanendo Adi (POR) - 17.83%
