TRANSFER TRACKER:Loans
The New England Revolution have loaned two Homegrown Players to the USL Championship, with midfielder Isaac Angking heading to the Charlotte Independence and forward Justin Rennicks going to North Carolina FC.
Both loans are through the end of the 2019 season, though New England remains the right to recall the youngsters at any time.
Angking, 19, made three substitute appearances a year ago, but has yet to earn first-team minutes this season. On the U.S. youth national team front, he most recently featured at the 2018 Concacaf U-20 Championship. A left-footed midfielder, Angking has been dealt several injury and off-field setbacks in his young career, including a non-soccer related medical emergency shortly signing ahead of the 2018 season.
Rennicks, 20, inked a HG deal with the Revs this past winter after two years at the University of Indiana. Since, Rennicks has made two appearances for New England in MLS, then scored his first professional goal June 19 in a U.S. Open Cup match at Orlando City.
Rennicks was also part of last Tuesday's 2019 MLS Homegrown Game presented by Energizer, playing 45 minutes in the side’s win over Chivas Guadalajara's U-20 team. The forward’s biggest moment, though, came in early June, when he scored a game-winner against France in the Round of 16 at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
In North Carolina, Rennicks will be coached by Dave Sarachan, Revolution sporting director/head coach Bruce Arena’s longtime assistant with the LA Galaxy and U.S. men’s national team.
Several reports have surfaced that New England will launch a USL League One team for the 2020 season, providing a future development option closer to home for the likes of Angking and Rennicks.
