The National Soccer Hall of Fame announced its list of candidates eligible for induction this year, including a number of current MLS coaches and retired players.
There are a number of players in their first year of eligibility, including MLS Best XI selections Victor Bernardez (2012), Bobby Boswell (2006 and 2014), Jon Busch (2008), Shalrie Joseph (2005, 2007-2009), Sebastien LeToux (2010) and Javier Morales (2010). Also in their first year of eligibility are former MLS and US men's national team stalwarts Maurice Edu and Oguchi Onyewu.
Among those still eligible are US men's national team head coach Gregg Berhalter, Montreal Impact head coach Thierry Henry, Austin FC head coach Josh Wolff, and Inter Miami co-owner and president of soccer operations David Beckham. Among the list of those eligible for the veteran ballot are current MLS head coaches Robin Fraser, Oscar Pareja and Greg Vanney.
The group is joined by other figures in American soccer history, including Christie Pearce, Lauren Holiday, and other members of the US women's national team that won the 2015 World Cup, and those who held leadership roles like former New England Revolution head coach Steve Nicol and Seattle Sounders owner Adrian Hanauer.
A full list of candidates can be found on the National Soccer Hall of Fame's website. The 2021 National Soccer Hall of Fame ceremony is scheduled for May 22, and is set to celebrate both the 2020 (Carlos Bocanegra and Colin Jose Media Award Winner Andrés Cantor) and 2021 class of inductees.
