A movie based on the career of US men’s national team goalkeeping great Tim Howard is coming to Amazon, according to the Sports Business Journal.
The film is set to cover Howard’s early-career breakthrough at Manchester United and his public struggles with Tourette syndrome. It'll be produced by Mark Ciardi’s Select Films and generated interest from several streaming platforms.
Howard, 41, initially retired after his 2019 season with the Colorado Rapids, then came out of retirement to play for Memphis 901 FC, the same USL Championship club where he’s sporting director and a minority owner.
“It’s a pretty cool story, if I do say so myself,” Howard said. “We’re far enough removed from that moment that we can capture it in that best light.”
Howard’s professional career began in 1998 with the New York/New Jersey MetroStars, and he ultimately logged 185 regular-season appearances. He’s earned 121 caps for the USMNT, highlighted by key roles at the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups. Howard also featured over 400 times for Everton.
