In a race decided by a very tight margin, Evan Bush has edged out Matt Van Oekel for the latest MLS Save of the Week prize.
The Montreal Impact goalkeeper’s sprawling save on a long-range Federico Higuain shot outpolled the effort from his Real Salt Lake counterpart by a razor-thin margin of under one percentage point in the fan vote, with both contenders neck and neck at the 26 percent mark.
The winning stop was one of three saves for Bush on Saturday, but it wasn’t quite enough to earn a positive result for his team as Columbus Crew SC beat the Impact 3-2 at Stade Saputo.
The Week 11 poll was an evenly matched contest from front to back, as Toronto FC's Alex Bono came in third at 17 percent, a nose ahead of Crew SC's Zack Steffen (16 percent) and Sean Johnson of New York City FC (15 percent). The award is the first SOTW prize of the season for Bush, an Ohio native.
Bush and the Impact return to action with a tough trip to Portland to face the Timbers at Providence Park on Saturday (3 pm ET | TVA Sports in Canada, MLS LIVE in US).
