The Montreal Impact announced on Tuesday they have signed 2019 MLS SuperDraft second-round selection Amar Sejdic to a one-year contract, with three option years.
The midfielder joins the Impact on the heels of successful college career at Maryland, where he helped the Terrapins to the 2018 College Cup and was named tournament MVP. He converted from the penalty spot for the only goal in Maryland's 1-0 championship win over Akron.
In 82 collegiate appearances, he scored 22 goals and added 16 assists while earning First Team All-Big Ten honors in 2016 and 2018. The Impact selected the 22-year-old Sejdic 34th overall back in January.
“His overall potential and the state of mind he demonstrated during camp convinced me that he could help the group reach its objectives,” Impact head coach Remi Garde said in a statement. “Our challenge now is to help him progress from a university level to the growing demands of MLS. I would like to welcome him to the Impact.”
