Despite some pretty public interest in luring him to Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Dominic Oduro is staying put with the Montreal Impact.
The Quebecois side announced on Monday that they had signed the veteran winger to a new two-year deal, after he scored six goals and led the team with six assists in MLS play this past season. The 31-year-old also scored twice and notched three assists on the Impact's impressive run to the Eastern Conference Championship in the Audi 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs.
In two years in Montreal, he has 17 goals and 13 assists across all competitions, including four assists as the Impact reached the final of the 2014-15 CONCACAF Champions League.
"We are happy to have come to an agreement with Dominic on a new two-year contract," Impact technical director Adam Braz said in a club statement announcing the new contract. "Dominic has been an important part of our success in the last two years and has fit in nicely with the club and the city. His pace and ability to get in behind defenders has led to his important offensive contribution to the team. His experience and team first mentality will continue to be important within our group."
The 31-year-old Ghanaian is entering his 12th MLS season and previously played for FC Dallas, New York Red Bulls, Houston Dynamo, Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew SC and Toronto FC before joining Montreal in 2015.
"I am very happy to come back with the Impact, where I have enjoyed a lot of success with the club as well as individually and found more consistency and connection with my teammates," said Oduro. "I also have a strong connection with the fans, which made my decision even easier to return."
